About Me

My name is Richard Herrin:

I have been in training since I was about 12.  Training for football was basically where it all began. I don't possess the size, strength or speed to be a highly competitive football player. Honestly, I don't have the genetics. I guess I could have chosen a different mom and dad, right!

Anyway, my passion for fitness began at a young age and has directed me in many aspects of my life.  After high school and entering the Marine Corps I continued to train.  You are reading the message of a gym rat who, through self-discovery and dedication, is running a fitness program to share with all those who want to be as fit as they can be.

I have shown many clients a common sense approach to becoming and to being more fit. I have years of experience understanding the mechanics of weight training.  I even had a short-lived career in bodybuilding where, objectively, I competed well.  I have a knowledgeable background in all aspects of training for a desired result.

Whether for a sport or for aesthetics, I think the two goals merge when you're training for either one.  My concept is that you not limit yourself to one type of training.  Train for all of it - strength, speed, endurance, coordination, flexibility, balance.  Maybe we can turn you into a football player!  Basically I want to help you maximize your own genetic potential.  You can be stronger, leaner, more flexible.  I do believe you have to train to become that way.

I have the knowledge and the experience to help you up the echelon of fitness.  If you need the assistance of a fitness trainer, I'm your guy!!!  My time spent in the gym, training with others and studying different methods and approaches combined with my formal education and certifications qualifies me as your professional.

I also do massage therapy for the times you are too sore for comfort.  Or when you just need to relax.  I'll do a Swedish massage with lots of different modalities.  I also offer stone therapy and power tools but I find people really just appreciate the touch of hands.  I incorporate stretching and range of motion in the massage. If you need a deeper massage, I really have a natural deep touch. I am registered through the state of Texas, RMT # 025351.

I did my formal, hands-on training at the Asten Center of Natural Therapeutics in Richardson, Texas and maintain the following certifications:

  • National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer

  • American College of Integrative Medicine Certified Personal Trainer

  • Aerobics and Fitness Association of America Group Exercise Instructor
